March 16th, 2013 – RTÉ’s Nationwide team were in Clifden again last month, this time featuring the ‘ bespoke hats and headpieces’ made by Isobel Marinot-Wood, of Marinot Millinery.
The show, which aired on February 1, showed stunning examples of Isobel’s work as a milliner over the last three years.
Isobel, who works from home, said: ‘I love what I do, as it means I can be at home with my family. My background is in jewellery design and goldsmithing, which I think shines through in my designs.
‘At present I’m working on pieces for the Punchestown Racing Festival in April, where I will be taking a stand again this year.’
Isobel added: ‘The Nationwide team wanted to shoot the modelling [sequence] on a beach, but I suggested Millars, as it’s probably the most beautiful shop around – and I liked the idea of giving my feature a little bit more community spirit. ‘The models I chose for the shoot are two young local girls – Jennifer Faharta, a school girl from Oughterard, and Helen Mannion, a law student from Clifden.’
